As we all move into implementation of HIPAA privacy and
transactions & code sets regulations, DMH will continue to provide
assistance with business practices related to HIPAA.

Wherever possible, DMH requests that you direct all
HIPAA business practice inquiries to the following e-mail address:
HIPAA@mail.dmh.state.mo.us. Time and resource limitations
preclude telephone contact at this time.

Responses will be directed to the most appropriate and
available resource staff.

Response/turnaround time will be dependent upon volume
of inquiries and urgency of the issues.

including the current schedule, may be found at

policies, forms, guidance which DMH is using for its own
implementation:

A draft of the DMH HIPAA Transactions Companion Guide
will be posted by June 30, 2003.

- PLEASE NOTE: Due to staff
reductions and resource constraints related to the state budget, DMH
will no longer be able to provide technical assistance for
provider-specific HIPAA implementation issues other than those related
to DMH business practices. The HIPAA Core Team will make every effort
to support treatment, payment and healthcare operations in this very
difficult environment.
