Welcome BHC is one of six State-operated facilities who's primary purpose is to provide individual habilitation services to Missouri citizens with mental retardation/developmental disabilities and who have severe maladaptive behaviors or limited adaptive skills.
The entire operation of BHC is based on the principles of NORMALIZATION, INDIVIDUALIZATION, and LEAST RESTRICTION. These principles recognize that individuals may need specialized habilitation services and supports. These services and supports help each individual develop with as few restrictions as possible in daily activities.
Throughout each person's stay at BHC, recognition of his or her human and legal rights remains all-important. These rights are contained in the state statutes which govern the Department of Mental Health. To make sure these rights are fully known and protected, BHC staff explain them to each individual, parent, or guardian upon admission.
Services provided at BHC include Residential Habilitation, Nursing/Medical, Dietary, Social Services, Psychological/Behavior Support, Speech Therapy, OccupationalTherapy, Physical Therapy, Work Skills Training, Self-Help Skills Training, Community Access and Integration, Recreation and Leisure and Supported Employment.
