FACT SHEET - Suicide is a reaction to intense feelings of loneliness, worthlessness, hopelessness, or depression. Threats or attempts of suicide are calls for help. Many of the resources above can provide information and assistance to those who are seeking help for someone else. You may also want to read "Understanding and Helping the Suicidal Person" from the American Association of Suicidology. The Stop a Suicide, Today website offers additional information that may be helpful, such as the Suicide Risk Questionnaire, a list of what not to do, and what to expect during the evaluation process.
