SuiCIDE Prevention Training

There are several suicide prevention training programs that are currently available in Missouri.

This page will be expanded in the near future to include additional contact information of trainers throughout the state, but for now please feel free to contact Suicide Prevention Project staff to inquire about scheduling training in your area.

QPR: Question, Persuade and Refer

QPR is a training intervention that teaches lay and professional gatekeepers to recognize and respond positively to someone exhibiting suicide warning signs and behaviors.

All of the Regional Resource Centers currently offer free QPR workshops to interested groups. Click here for a map and list of coordinators.

A list of certified trainers is also available on the QPR Institute website.

QPR appears in the SPRC/AFSP Best Practice Registry

ASIST: Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training

The ASIST workshop is a two-day workshop designed to provide participants with gatekeeping knowledge and skills.

For more information visit the LivingWorks website.

safeTALK: Suicide Alertness for Everyone

safeTALK is a 2.5–3.5 hour training program that teaches participants to recognize and engage persons who might be having thoughts of suicide and to connect them with community resources trained in suicide intervention. SafeTALK stresses safety while challenging taboos that inhibit open talk about suicide.

For more information visit the LivingWorks website.

safeTALK appears in the SPRC/AFSP Best Practice Registry

SOS: Signs of Suicide

SOS incorporates two prominent suicide prevention strategies into a single program, combining a curriculum that aims to raise awareness of suicide and its related issues with a brief screening for depression and other risk factors associated with suicidal behavior.

For more information visit the Screening for Mental Health website.

SOS appears in SAMHSA's National Registry of Evidence-Based Programs and Practices (NREPP)

Other Programs

Information about other programs is available on the SPRC/AFSP Best Practice Registry website.

There are also free online training courses available at: The National Center for Suicide Prevention Training website and www.endingsuicide.com
