National Outcome Measures
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration's (SAMHSA) National Outcome Measures (NOMS) are an effort to develop a reporting system that, in turn, will create an accurate and current national picture of substance abuse and mental health services. Ten domains were identified in an effort to limit the number of outcomes to measure. This allowed an increased focus on those particular areas to see if the outcomes were met. The NOMs that were defined embody meaningful, real life outcomes for people who are striving to attain and sustain recovery; build resilience; and work, learn, live, and participate fully in their communities.
