There are a variety of work incentives that have been implemented at the State and Federal Levels in order to support people entering the workforce. The pages listed below contain information on a variety of different work incentive programs.
Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach (BPAO) Program: In 1999 the Social Security Administration established a grant program called the Benefits Planning, Assistance and Outreach (BPAO) Program. Under BPAO, monetary awards were granted to community-based organizations, called BPAO Projects, to provide all SSA beneficiaries with disabilities access to work incentives planning and assistance services This article contains information about services provided by Missouri's benefit specialists as well as how to contact the benefit specialist in your area.
The Ticket to Work and Work Incentives Improvement Act of 1999 (TWWIIA): TWWIIA was enacted to allow individuals with disabilities to work. Title I of the act establishes the Ticket to Work and Self Sufficiency Program which provides access to employment training and placement services. Ticket to Work gives persons receiving disability benefits the opportunity to achieve steady, long-term employment by providing greater choices and opportunities to go to work.
