Eligibility
A developmental disability is a long-term condition that significantly delays or limits mental or physical development and substantially interferes with such activities as self care, communication, learning decision making, capacity for independent living and mobility.
Conditions must have occurred before age 22, with the expectation that they will continue.

What We Believe To Be Each Individual’s Rights
Service Coordination
The Poplar Bluff Regional Center’s primary purpose is the provision of service coordination to individuals with developmental disabilities and their families. The mission of service coordination is to assist persons with developmental disabilities and their families to access the services they want and need.
There are four specific activities that service coordinators perform in order to accomplish this mission. These activities include:
Connecting – Getting to know the person and his/her family
Planning – Assisting the person in the development of a plan that identifies his/her abilities, life
Goals, service and support needs
Linking – Assisting persons to access services and supports that he/she wants or needs, through
Both formal and informal sources
Advocacy – Initiating and supporting efforts to urge decision makers to improve the quantity and
quality of services and support
